Vicugna pacos

I decided to dedicate a blog to the alpaca because it is an animal that I have always wanted to know; besides it looks very peaceful.
The "alpaca" is the common name for Vicugna pacos. Is a species of artiodactyl mammal (are an order of ungulate mammals whose extremities terminate in an even number of fingers of which they support in the ground at least two) of the family Camelidae.
Their domestication has been going on for thousands of years. We can find archaeological remains of the Mochica culture of Peru with representations of alpacas
Thanks to DNA analysis, it was determined that it is much more related to the vicuña than to any other South American camelid, hence the change of its scientific name, of luma pacos, since it was believed to be more related to the llama, to vicugna pacos (the name most actual).
The alpacas weigh between 45 and 77 kg and their height is of 90 cm, surpassed slightly by the vicuña, its ancestor. The height of the alpaca is considerably smaller than that of the llama, comparing with this and the camel the habit of spitting, used to show aggressiveness or as a method of defense.
Is distributed in the “altiplánica region” of the mountain chain of the Andes.

I want an alpaca wool vest : c

The Environmental Assessment Service

Hello friends, today I will tell you a little about the Environmental Assessment Service (SEA, for its acronym in Spanish).

The SEA is a public body functionally decentralized with legal personality and own property.

Its main function is to technify and administer the environmental management instrument called "Environmental Impact Assessment System" (SEIA), whose management is based on the environmental evaluation of projects adjusted to what is established in the current norm, encouraging and facilitating citizen participation in the evaluation of the projects.
The SEA website shows different information, such as explanatory documents for: the preparation of an EIA (Evacuation of Environmental Impact), the consideration of citizen participation in the evaluation of projects, current regulations, among others.
The website also has available a search engine that indicates the Environmental Impact Assessment and the Environmental Impact Statement (DIA) corresponding to each project.

The home page shows the most recent news related to the SEA, in addition to a calendar with dates and places of the next Evaluation Committee Tables, which is the case where the projects in each region are discussed.
In my opinion and in the important institutions related to the protection of nature

My favorite tree

It's very difficult for me to choose a favorite tree, but on this occasion I will write on a native tree of Chile, Weinmannia trichosperma (scientific name) or more known as tineo or palo santo. Because it was the first one I thought.
Weinmannia trichosperma has a evergreen foliage.  Reaches a height of about 40 meters and its trunk a diameter of 2 meters. Its bark has a slightly wrinkled, light gray color, with well-marked longitudinal and transverse fissures. Its leaves are quite striking, they appear embroidered lace, in addition, it has a cylindrical cluster like inflorescence, of a white-cream color, that soon turns pink and red when the fruits ripen.
In Chile it is distributed from the province of Talca (seventh region), to the Province of Last Hope (twelfth region). It inhabits both the Cordillera de la Costa and Los Andes, in humid forest areas, in ravines or in swampy places.
It can also be found in southern Argentina.
Its wood is very appreciated and has great ornamental value
I remember seeing it for the first time in sectors near the town of Frutillar, located in the Region of Los Lagos. (Tenth region)
Tell me about your favorite trees or what you think about the tineo : D

I expect your comments  >: c

The importance of sleeping well

Lately I have not slept very well because we are in the university in the period of examinations, and study during the night. So I wondered what was the importance of sleeping a certain amount of hours and what were the consequences of not sleeping properly.
So I found out some things on the Internet that I found interesting to share.
We spend a third of our lives sleeping  (that's a lot, considering that the life expectancy of a person in Chile is 82 years)
Sleeping represents a vital function  because  we can’t live without sleep, sleep "repairs" our body every day.
It is not known with scientific accuracy what happens while we sleep, but what we do know is that each phase of the dream is involved in a different task. During deep sleep, physical restoration occurs during REM sleep and cognitive function (learning processes, memory and concentration).
Some of the consequences of not sleeping well are that it makes our ability to pay attention, remember and learn worse; It is also associated with diseases such as obesity, diabetes and even cancer.
In conclusion I must go to sleep...
Good week to you all!
😀

A photograph

I took this photo on December 20, 2016, for my birthday number 20, in the subway station.
Is a plant, whose name I don`t know, but is of the succulent type
Is a gift that gave me a very good friend
I remember that day that I had to go to classes in the afternoon, so I had the morning unoccupied and my friend called me to join us. That's when he gave me the plant. I was surprised because I did not expect him to remember my birthday and much less to give me a gift, so that made me very happy.
I chose this photo first of all because it reminds me of my friend, whom I haven`t seen for a long time and how much I had fun on my birthday last year
Now this plant is in my garden and much bigger :D
Tell me about some of the best gifts you have received on your birthday…

Carnivorous plants

Hello friends, today I will tell you about carnivorous plants.
Is a topic that I find very interesting, as it reflects the way in which living beings adapt to the place where they live.

A carnivorous plant must meet three characteristics:
-          - Capture and kill prey
-          - Have a mechanism to facilitate digestion of the prey
-          -Derive a significant benefit from nutrients assimilated from the prey.

Well, carnivorous plants don’t eat meat as such. They have a digestion quite similar to the fungi, what is known as external digestion.

These plants catch their prey  through different mechanisms, some are: adhesive in their leaves, moving tentacles, water traps, among others.

Their prey are mainly the insects and absorb the nutrients that are in him. This is because they have glands that secrete acids and enzymes, which degrade the prey.
It is important to mention that this type of plant is in very hostile places, where there is lack of some nutrient.

When I went to the south of Chile I could see the specie  Drosera uniflora, one of the two species of carnivorous plants native to this country, it is really small and very pretty.

My favourite piece of technology

My favourite piece of technology is my notebook, because I can carry it to almost everywhere, as long as there is electricity.

Basically, laptops or notebooks are capable of doing most of the tasks that desktop computers do. It has processing circuitry and a rechargeable battery

My notebook is black, I have it a few months ago, runs very fast because it has a big hard drive. Does not have a very good camera, but that's not important for me. I often use it do the jobs for college and also watch movies, it is very versatile.

In general it is used to access the internet, also lot to organize files, store photos, music and videos, even to play. It is useful for all people.

Tell me, what do you think about technology?
